Curriculum Overview
The music program at Sterling Community School is based on the premise that every student needs and deserves a high-quality musical education. Music is an integral component of the comprehensive curriculum provided to all Sterling Community School students at every grade because they play an essential role in the daily lives of citizens and are essential to the expression of human experience. An understanding and appreciation of the arts, as well as the ability to participate in the arts, are essential attributes of an educated person. The music program at Sterling Community School cultivates a student’s ability to carry out the three artistic processes of creating, performing, and responding. These are the processes that musicians have always followed, and through these processes our students will become successful musicians and 21st century citizens.
